The world of Sawczyn’s sculptures
Eugeniusz Sawczyn’s work consists of small, spatial sculptures and plaques arranged in thematic series. These forms exude distinctiveness, intimacy, and above all, loneliness. However, this loneliness is ultimately illusory, as these works have another dimension that opens up the characters depicted in them, as well as us, the viewers, to the spiritual world.
So we also find there hope for overcoming human finitude and participating in a different kind of community—a community of souls. Paradoxically, Sawczyn is able to see this spiritual dimension in even the smallest manifestations of life. His sculptures are imbued with love for various elements of the world around him: man, bird, fallen leaf.
